Dr. Hogan is a tenured Associate Professor at an Illinois-area university, were he currently teaches courses on safety, toxicology, and other topics. (Note: consulting services are separate from his university employment)
Dr. Hogan's voluntary professional activities include membership on a committee that develops chemical exposure guidelines. He has also written book chapters in multiple editions of the "Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene" textbook.
Dr. Hogan was also an iron foundry production worker. His exposures to silica, lung irritants, and other chemicals motivated him to study industrial hygiene. His foundry experience provided him with a worker's perspective on safety and health.

Areas of Practice
exposure history research
Our primary work is identifying, evaluating, and summarizing prior workplace (and environmental) exposures. This includes extensive detailed research on the technologies, materials, and practices in different industries and occupations. Dr. Hogan's broad industrial experience provides a realistic perspective on how and why exposures occur.
chemical hazard research
We identify the potential health effects and risks of specific workplace and environmental exposures. This includes extensive reviews of peer-reviewed scientific literature, such as workplace exposure studies, industrial epidemiology, and animal toxicology studies.
Compliance and litigation-related research
We provide information and guidance on workplace safety compliance. Dr. Hogan has guided about 100 organizations on how to come into compliance after workplace regulatory citations. Dr. Hogan is regularly engaged by law firms to conduct accident evaluation and research worker chemical exposures. He has worked with over 50 plaintiffs and defense law firms.
